Anibal Gonzalez lived and worked in Mexico City ( 1967-68 )
where, among other works he designed and built the offices of the Spanish Embassy to Mexico ,then named the Representative Office of the Spanish State since both countries didn’t have official diplomatic relations at that time , He also lived in Alexandria,Egypt , where he had a fabric design workshop whose products became world famous and were featured in Casa Vogue Magazine,
Anibal Gonzalez was hired byL.A.Brown& Buckley architecture firm where he participated in different residential projects among which was the Pacific Palisades home of famous movie actor Walter Mathau.
In 1978 he moved back to Mexico City where he open his own architectureand industrial and interior design studio . There he devoted his profesional activity to design and build luxury residences , in Mexico D.F. ,Acapulco , Malinalco, Valle de Bravo and Puebla, Pue.
In 1986 Anibal Gonzalez married Monica Hernandez and moved to Merida , Yucatan,. There he continued his architecture practice while Monica, who is a successful international landscape and
Interior designer joined him and together designed and built what ,soon became the world famous Hacienda Katanchel
Monica Hernandez was mainly responsible for the magnificent gardens of Hacienda Katanchel while Anibal Gonzalez was in charge of the overall architecture design and building and both joined forces to create what , according to the international press was considered a revolutionary new concept in the art of design and hospitality.
New York Times, L.A. Times, Casa Mexicana II and many other publications choose to place Hacienda Katanchel at the cover of their issues. The bestseller book; “ The 1.000 places to see before you die “
has lisled Hacienda Katanchel among the 1.000 wonders of the world,with the piramids of Egypt and of Mexico, the Great Wall of China.etc.

The Maya World soon became fashionable , the rich and famous of four continents started to list the Yucatan as a must destination for their holidays and the Hacienda Katanchel was the place where everybody met and meet.
Soon , many people started to buy other haciendas and colonial houses in the region, to make them their homes as well as boutique hotels or simply as real estate investments.
The city of Merida , 15 miles to the West of Haciendda Katanchel was then choosen by creative people from the US, Canada , Europe, and the Far East as the ideal place where they will spend their lives.
Famous artists, movie directors, world known designers , restore old mansions and fill them with the most exotic collections of art works gathered along their cosmopolitan lives.
Now, thanks to the seed that Monica and Anibal Gonzalez planted in this fertile soil back in the year 1995 , the Yucatan has become a lush garden with a vibrant cosmopolitan society.
